What is a Trunk Show?
A Trunk Show is an in-store event where a vendor presents the newest styles and colors from their line’s latest seasonal selection. As Laurie’s customers you are invited to come into our store to check out and try on these new additions.
We have been holding Trunk Shows since we opened our doors in 1951 and are one of the few retailers left today that still host them. The term Trunk Show originates form vendors traveling from store to store to show off their latest goods to retailers and customers. They transported their products in a large trunk, hence the name!
What happens at a Trunk Show?
You can expect to see new styles, including our Featured Shoe, that have already arrived for the season, but also receive a sneak-peek at footwear that will arrive in the coming weeks and months. These styles will be available for preorder. Additionally, you will be able to special order styles from the vendor that we may not be receiving at all.
In many cases, a representative from our vendor is able to attend to answer any questions customers may have about the brand and educate on new technologies being introduced by the company. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the brand and the new offerings.
Finally, as a gift for attending our Trunk Show and purchasing something from our featured brand, Laurie’s likes to provide a free gift. This gift with purchase varies from show to show, so keep an eye out for updates on what to expect!
What is a Rep?
A “Rep” refers to our Sales Representative from our various vendors. This individual works closely with us during buying seasons and throughout the year, educating us on the latest from their brands and helping us to decide what we will carry for the season. Our Reps are extremely knowledgable and are extended members of the Laurie’s family!
Our Reps often attend one or both days of our Trunk Shows and are available to our customers during the shows to answer any questions they have about the brand and provide recommendations around the best style to meet our customers’ needs.
What is the Featured Shoe?
Our Featured Shoe is a brand new promotion for our Trunk Shows. The Featured Shoe will be selected by our buying team and Rep for each Trunk Show. The style will be a secret to our entire staff as well as our customers until it is revealed the first morning of our Trunk Show.
The Featured Shoe will be a brand new style in a brand new color. Most significantly, it will be a brand new shoe to Laurie’s that falls outside of our typical selection. Our buyers have been tasked with thinking outside the box when picking out the Featured Shoe, so we are very excited to see what they come up with and what everyone thinks!
